If you hold a donor-advised fund, you can recommend a grant to Thrown Stone in about two minutes.

How to recommend a grant

1. Sign in to your fund. At Fidelity Charitable, DAFgiving360 (formerly Schwab Charitable), Vanguard Charitable, and National Philanthropic Trust, you can do this yourself online. Fairfield County’s Community Foundation runs recommendations through its donor portal, so allow a few extra days, or ask your philanthropic services contact at (203) 750-3200 to enter it for you.
2. Search by our EIN, not our name. Enter 81-1683094. A name search turns up other organizations with similar names, and a grant sent to the wrong one cannot be recalled.
3. Recommend any amount. There is no minimum. 
4. Tell us it is coming. Fill in the short form at the bottom of this page. Some funds forward your name with the grant and some do not, so a note from you is the surest way for us to thank you properly.

What happens after you recommend

Your fund sends the grant to us directly, usually by check, in one to four weeks. Your fund handles the tax documentation and the receipt, so you will not get one from us.

Benefits and recognition

Grants from donor-advised funds do not carry ticket or event benefits. IRS rules prevent a DAF grant from being exchanged for anything of value, so your grant goes to the work in full. We are glad to list your name, or the name of your fund, in our programs and annual report.

Thrown Stone is the only professional theatre in Connecticut working exclusively on new plays, from commission through development to production. We are in residency at the Crystal Theatre in South Norwalk. See our production history for details.

Grants fund the work: commissions, workshops, creative teams, performers, and production. More than 95 percent of our budget goes directly to our programs.
