Franky D. Gonzalez (he/him, Dallas, TX) is a Latino playwright of Colombian descent. Appearances include the Lark, Sundance, Ojai Playwrights Conference, New York Classical Theatre, Kitchen Dog Theater, Berkeley Rep, NNPN, Urbanite, Visión Latino, Orchard Project, New Harmony Project, LAByrinth Theater, Playwrights Center, Goodman Theatre (Live@5 Series), Ars Nova, Great Plains Theatre Conference, the William Inge Theatre Festival, Latinx Theatre Commons, the Sol Project, Seven Devils, Sewanee, Road Theatre, Ammunition Theater, and Latinx Playwrights Circle, among others. Awards include the Risk Theatre Modern Tragedy Grand Prize, the Judith Royer Award, the Crossroads Project Diverse Voices Playwriting Initiative Award, and co-recipient of the MetLife Nuestras Voces Latino Playwriting Award. The Midwest premiere of his play That Must Be the Entrance to Heaven garnered two Non-Equity Jeff Awards. As a television writer he has written for Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why (Season 4), Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon. He was previously a 4Seasons Resident Playwright, a Core Writer with the Playwrights Center, a Sewanee Writer’s Conference Fellow (Sol Project Fellowship), a Vermont Studio Center Fellow, and a Sony Pictures Television Diverse Writing Fellow. He is currently a proud board member of the New Harmony Project and serves as the Dramatists Guild of America‘s North Texas Regional Representative.
