Nick Plakias

Nick Plakias began his professional career, guitar in hand, at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC in the musical Diamond Studs.  Most recently he appeared, banjo in hand, in the New York Musical Festival production of The Goree All-Girl String Band.

Other New York credits include A Class Act (New World Stages), Moby Dick-Rehearsed and The Miser (Brave New World Rep), The Most Dangerous Man In America (New Federal Theatre), The Waiting Room (Billie Holiday Theatre), The Cure (Jewish Rep), and School For Husbands (New York Classical Theatre).

Regionally he has appeared in The Tempest and Largely/New York at Seattle Rep; Of Mice And Men and The Left Hand Singing at Arkansas Rep; Smoke On The Mountain and Bus Stop at Pennsylvania Stage; The Cherry Orchard, Beast On The Moon, To Kill A Mockingbird and Terra Nova at Capital Rep; The Grapes Of Wrath at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey; Woody Guthrie’s American Song at Saint Michael’s Playhouse; the Utah and Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festivals; and the premiere of Floyd Collins at the American Music Theater Festival.

On television, he has appeared on Another World, Brotherhood and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

As a composer and lyricist, he wrote music and lyrics for the western musical Buffalo Gals, produced at the Oldcastle Theatre Company in Vermont and The Flat Rock Playhouse in North Carolina.
