We are pleased to share that Phanésia Pharel’s The Waterfall has been selected for the New Harmony Project’s 2025 Production in Residence. This play, conceived during Thrown Stone’s 2022 068 Magazine Playwriting Fellowship, developed in partnership with the Old Globe, WP Theatre, and winner of the Kennedy Center Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award, will continue its journey in this prestigious program.
The New Harmony Project provides playwrights with dedicated time, dramaturgical support, and a collaborative artistic community to refine their work. The Waterfall, which explores the complex bond between a Haitian American mother and her daughter, will be developed alongside a talented cohort of writers and collaborators. The residency will culminate in a public reading on May 31 at Thrall’s Opera House in New Harmony, Indiana.
At Thrown Stone, we are committed to supporting new work from commission to development to production. We look forward to seeing how The Waterfall evolves in this next stage and are proud to be part of its journey.
