Actor, director, and writer Melody James is an active member of Theatre Artists Workshop, (VP, Board of Directors) in CT. She has appeared in Theatre Artists Workshop’s Holiday Memories, The Royal Family, Making the Scene, Momoirs, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Happy, The Rose Tattoo, and Are You Now or Have You Ever Been? She directed and portrayed Ann Sullivan Macy in Little Island of Joy at the Workshop and Summer Theater of New Canaan. She directed The Difference, White Walls, The Four Seasons, The Dung Beetles, and a scene from Little Island of Joy for the Workshop’s New Plays Festivals. Melody performs with Play With Your Food (The Sentinels, Alex & Ann, Deaf Day), and she adapted Gogol’s The Nose, directed and acted in The Nose and Readings from the Edge for PWYF at Center for Contemporary Printmaking. She’s a 12-year veteran of the Tony- and Obie-winning San Francisco Mime Troupe and member of Modern Times Theater, NYC. Melody wrote and directed Canaries and Sitting Ducks, a play about Love Canal, selected for 2 NYC New Plays Festivals, and Flash on Trash for Mayfair Festival in PA. She has taught acting (Vassar, Muhlenberg, Fordham) and Playmaking for decades.
