2016 CT Halo Awards

Thrown Stone Artistic Director Wins Three Halos for St. Luke’s School

Thrown Stone Co-Artistic Director Jason Peck and his St. Luke’s students were honored at the 13th Annual Halo Awards, hosted by the Seven Angels Theatre.  Sixty-four schools and 200 productions participated in the awards, recognizing the best in high school theatre in Connecticut. This is Peck’s first year as Director of Theatre Arts for St. Luke’s School, and the first year the school has participated in the Halos. The department received eighteen nominations and two three* wins: Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Nick Jodka, Avenue Q), and Best Contemporary Play (Distracted by Lisa Loomer).

Best Contemporary Play was the top award of the evening. “Distracted is such a challenging and provocative text,” said Peck. “It demands bravery, nuance, and specificity from the actors. We’re so proud of this recognition.”

Next for Peck is a July new play reading series to launch Thrown Stone, and then in August, his St. Luke’s production of Avenue Q heads to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

*Update: June 6, 2016

Due to a clerical error, the winner of Best Leading Actor in a Contemporary Play was not announced at the Halo Awards last week. Congratulations to Grace Cashman, who won for her performance in Lisa Loomer’s Distracted.
